The Kiondoo is one of the few mainstream fashion accessories that are uniquely African, from the material used to make them to the style used to make them. Originally used for carrying goods to and from the market, harvests from the shamba as well as wedding gifts, while still retaining these uses, Kiondoo bags are also used today as fashion accessories, taking advantage of the emerging popularity of all things African and ethnic to brighten and complete outfits.
The bag is made of sisal fiber that is hand picked, made by hand into yarn then twisted and weaved. It is finished with natural leather mainly from cow hide.
Our exquisite and ethical basket bags are inspired by tribal patterns and traditional Kenyan colourways in addition to being handwoven. Each basket bag takes up to seven days to complete.
